The Kithead Trust
Preserving the story of the UK transport industries
Welcome to The Kithead Trust, a specialist archive and reference library for the road and rail transport industries.
The Kithead Trust is a specialist archive of records from the transport industries. Our core collection are records from the bus and coach industry, but we also have lots on railways, transport planning and vehicle registration material.
We are open to the general public and encourage research into transport and its effects on society.
There is no charge for access to our collections but we rely on users and supporters to finance the archive and library. Go to our donate page if you think you can help.
Please take a look at what we have and pay us a visit.
The Trust is controlled by eight trustees, headed by chairman Brian King. Brian has spent his working life in public transport, and is now chairman of Wellglade Holdings, the parent company for trentbarton and other companies.
Day-to-day operation of the archive and library is in the hands of Secretary and Archivist Philip Kirk. Like Brian, Philip enjoyed a 35-year career in the bus industry and for 13 years he was managing director of The Oxford Bus Company.
